  • Matt Hyde

    President & Chief Executive Officer

    Matt Hyde joined West Marine in June 2012 as Chief Executive Officer and President. Previously, Matt served as Executive Vice President of REI, where he was responsible for Marketing, Direct Sales, Real Estate and Retail. Throughout his tenure at REI, Matt oversaw almost every division of the company. Notably, he launched REI’s online division, championing its award-winning multi-channel strategy.

    Mr. Hyde has worked to support outdoor recreation and stewardship throughout his career. He currently serves on the boards of the YMCA of the USA and Zumiez, Inc. (ZUMZ). As a passionate outdoor enthusiast, Matt has been boating all his life. From fishing, to kayaking, and sailing his Catalina Capri, Matt loves all things outdoors. He and his wife enjoy sailing and recreating on the waters of Monterey Bay.

      Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President – Finance and Assistant Secretary

      <P>Jeff Lasher joined West Marine in 2015 as Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President-Finance and Assistant Secretary.  Mr. Lasher oversees all of West Marine’s financial activities, including all accounting functions, preparation of financial statements, monitoring of expenditures and liquidity, managing investment, taxation issues, strategic planning, business development and capital structure of the business.  Prior to joining West Marine, Mr. Lasher served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Crocs, Inc., a multi-national designer, marketer, retailer and manufacturer of casual footwear.</P> 

      <P>Mr. Lasher is an active outdoorsman.  He is a triathlete and enjoys the fresh air of the Santa Cruz area.  He has an active water life along the California coast and at his family’s Colorado lake house where they enjoy their pleasure boat and a variety of standup paddleboards and kayaks.</P>

      • Barry Kelley

        Executive Vice President – Stores & Wholesale

        Barry Kelley is a 30-year veteran of the marine industry, having spent the last 24 years leading West Marine stores, wholesale and direct sales teams. He joined West Marine in 1989 in Southern California as a Store Associate, and was soon called upon to support the company’s expansion on the East Coast. Barry and his wife moved to South Florida, where he took on the role as the first District Manager of the Southeast Region. He was soon promoted to Southeast Regional Vice President and under his management the region grew quickly from the original 5 stores to well over 100. By 2005, the Southeast Region had grown to the largest volume sales region with over 140 stores in 10 states. In addition, the Southeast region had the highest wholesale growth for 7 years running. Managing this incredible wholesale growth made Barry the ideal candidate for the position of Vice President of Port Supply, West Marine’s wholesale division. In 2012, Barry was promoted to Senior Vice President, leading both the Port Supply Team as well as the Shared Services organization. In December of 2013, Barry was promoted to Executive Vice President of Stores and Wholesale. A lifelong boater, Barry equally enjoys a good day sailing or one spent offshore fishing. He currently enjoys life on the central coast with his wife Penny and three children.

          • Virginia Wright

            Chief Information Officer, Senior Vice President - Information Technology

            Virginia Wright joined West Marine as our Chief Information Officer, Senior Vice President in 2014. She brings more than 20 years of technology experience, with 14 years in the retail industry.

            Virginia joined West Marine from Ascena Retail Group where she served as the Vice President, Divisional CIO for their flagship brand, Justice & Brothers, a specialty retail brand focused on the Tween market, girls and boys between the ages of 9-13 years old. While at Justice, she created a three year technology refresh roadmap, opened international franchises in Mexico and Japan, updated the hardware in the stores, implemented video devices in all stores and participated in the design, development and implementation activities of Tradestone and OrPOS.

            Her experience includes Kohl's Department Stores where as Vice president, Customer Facing Systems she was responsible for the systems that enabled the five customer facing channels: POS, eComm, In-Store Kiosk, Mobile and Social. She brings deep store knowledge and digital commerce experience in addition to omni-channel and multi-channel planning. She offers a broad perspective, an analytical mind and an absolute passion for the customer experience.

            Additional experience includes: Gap Inc., Levi Strauss & Co., Charles Schwab, Kaiser Permanente and GTE North.

            Virginia has a Master of Science from Ball State University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

            Coming back to California, she is looking forward to updating her sailing skills and being on the water year round.

            • Pam Fields

              Senior Vice President – General Counsel & Secretary
              Pam Fields joined West Marine in 1997 as its first General Counsel. She is responsible for managing West Marine’s worldwide legal affairs in addition to serving as Secretary to its Board of Directors. A seasoned professional with 30 years of experience, Pam’s legal career started in the practice of real estate syndications, tax and corporate law with the law firm of Certilman, Haft, Lebow, Balin, Buckley & Kremer located in Manhattan. After relocating with her family to Los Angeles, California, her focus turned to Entertainment Law, representing several independent motion picture production and distribution companies. Then, in 1997, she joined West Marine and established its first in-house legal department, where she has led the company’s legal affairs relating to mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, litigation, finance, securities, commercial transactions, and other legal matters.

              Pam earned a Bachelor's degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from the State University of New York at New Paltz, and then her Juris Doctorate, graduating with honors, from Fordham University School of Law in Manhattan. She is licensed in California and New York and is an active member of the National Retail Federation’s General Counsel’s Forum, the American Bar Association and the Association of Corporate Counsel. Growing up on the shores of Long Island, N.Y., Pam has enjoyed recreational boating and fishing since she was a kid and loves to go boating as often as possible on the “other” coast with her husband and two children.
              • Debra Radcliff

                Senior Vice President – Marketing

                Deb Radcliff joined West Marine in April 2013 as Senior Vice President of Marketing. In this role, Deb is responsible for leading West Marine’s strategic marketing direction, accountable for strengthening and evolving all aspects of the West Marine brand and marketing programs.

                Prior to joining West Marine, Deb was Sr. Director of Marketing for The Home Depot and Vice President of Marketing for Sports Authority. In both organizations, she oversaw and directed all aspects of the marketing programs, leading the development of integrated marketing plans, leveraging new insights, best practices, innovative executions and media integrations to create growth, improve financial performance and gain competitive advantage.

                Deb is an avid sailor who enjoys all sports on the water. She raced competitively while living in Southern California and bare-boated a 58’ catamaran in the British Virgin Islands. Deb and her husband moved back to California and are excited to participate in the sailing scene in Santa Cruz.

                • Bob Buckborough

                  Vice President - eCommerce

                  Bob Buckborough has been with West Marine since 1998 and currently supports the Direct to Customer Division. Responsibilities include management of eCommerce and Call Center commerce functionality. Previously, Mr. Buckborough’s was a Regional Vice President for the Northeast Region. He began with West Marine as a Store Sales Associate in the Great Lakes and has held multiple store positions including District Manager in the Northeast and Southeast and then Regional Vice President supporting the Western Region.

                  Bob grew up close to Narragansett Bay and has cruised in sailboats from Canada to Key West as well as Bermuda and the Bahamas. Currently he lives near the company’s offices in California and enjoys Pacific Coast sailing again.

                  • Pat Foley

                    Vice President – Logistics

                    Pat joined the West Marine team in 1996 as the Director of Domestic Transportation and was named Assistant Vice President of Transportation Services in 2004 after assuming additional responsibilities for the company’s international transportation program. Pat has been accountable for developing a best-in-class transportation network for West Marine with year-over-year improvements in service and financial results. He has transformed how West Marine interacts with its carriers and vendors through state-of-the-art transportation management technology.

                    Prior to joining West Marine, Pat was Manager of Corporate Transportation for Electrolux Major Appliances, North America Division. In his twelve years at Electrolux, Mr. Foley held many progressive positions on the company’s logistics team. Patrick had responsibility overseeing transportation for eleven manufacturing locations and eight regional distribution centers.

                    Pat was West Marine’s first-ever recipient of the prestigious Walter Scott Leadership Award which is awarded annually to the West Marine associate who best demonstrates superior leadership cross-functionally within the organization.

                    Mr. Foley was promoted to Vice President Logistics in 2008 and has full responsibility for West Marine’s Distribution Centers located in Hollister, CA and Rock Hill, SC, along with West Marine’s Global Transportation program.

                    Each summer, Pat and his wife enjoy water sports at their family’s cabin on Lake Millicoquin in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Pat graduated from The Ohio State University in 1986. He currently serves on West Marine’s Sustainability Advisory Board and on the Board of Trustees for The United Way of Santa Cruz County.

                    • Dean Iwata

                      Vice President – Store Development
                      Dean Iwata joined West Marine in 2013 and was named Vice President – Store Development in 2014. Prior to working at West Marine, Dean held a range of positions at REI. During that time he helped grow, implemented a Workforce Management Strategy, and evolved the REI retail prototype store design. Dean’s most recent design development works include Five Gold LEED Certified stores, as well as the first retail store to be fully powered by solar energy. Other roles Dean has had include Business Development, Merchandising, Operations and Store Management.
                      Dean is a strategic leader with a record for devising and implementing innovative strategies to meet challenging goals; his leadership is focused on results through leveraging individuals’ strengths, building teams and helping people to grow, develop and create team successes.
                      Dean is an active outdoor and boating enthusiast and over the years has owned a range of watercraft from sailboards and kayaks, to dinghies, cruisers and sailboats. Growing up on the shores of San Francisco Bay, Dean has been a passionate sailor and racer for over 30 years. He and his wife currently enjoy salmon fishing, racing and cruising in Puget Sound and up into the Inside Passage.
                      • Deborah Ajeska

                        Vice President – Human Resources

                        Deb Ajeska has been with West Marine since 1999. In April 2016, Deb was promoted to Vice President of Human Resources where she is responsible for West Marine’s people strategy. This includes recruiting, maintaining excellent Quality of Work Life, training and leadership development, succession planning, compensation, benefits, legal compliance, payroll and safety programs and tools.

                        Prior to joining the Human Resources team, Deb developed her strong leadership skills and business acumen by serving in various roles in our Finance division and most recently was our Divisional Vice President of Finance and Controller. Prior to joining West Marine, she held various positions at Household Credit Services.

                        Deb has a B.S. degree in Accounting from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA. She grew up in Virginia fishing on the James River, sailing on the Chesapeake Bay and discovering her love of waterlife activities on the many beaches and coastlines of the Hampton Roads and Tidewater areas. She and her husband enjoy getaways to the mountains of California where they kayak and spend time on and around the water with their two boys.

                        • Barbara Rambo

                          Ms. Rambo has served as a Director of West Marine since November 2009 and in May 2015, was appointed as West Marine’s Independent Board Chair. She previously served as Chair of the Nomination and Governance Committee, member of the Audit and Finance Committee and Compensation and Leadership Development Committee and was the Lead Independent Director. Prior to becoming a Director, Ms. Rambo served as a consultant to the Board from September 2008 to November 2009.

                          Ms. Rambo is Chief Executive Officer of Taconic Management Services, a management consulting company, and has held that position since October 2009. She has held executive positions with companies in the financial services and technology sectors. Most recently, Ms. Rambo was chief executive officer of Nietech Corporation, a consumer payments services company for the retail and financial services industries. Prior to this position, Ms. Rambo was chief executive officer of OpenClose Technologies, a financial services technology company for the mortgage banking industry. Ms. Rambo assumed this position from Bank of America, where she was group executive vice president and head of National Commercial Banking. While heading the National Commercial Banking Group, she was also responsible for key affluent and mass marketing consumer segments, and served as a member of Bank of America’s senior management council, asset and liability committee and social policy committee. Previously, Ms. Rambo headed Bank of America’s California commercial/retail banking division, based in San Francisco, and the U.S. corporate and institutional group in the east, based in New York. Ms. Rambo began her career in the international banking division of Bank of America in New York.

                          In addition to serving on West Marine’s Board, Ms. Rambo currently serves as a director of PG&E Corporation and chairs the Finance Committee, and serves on the Compensation, Nominating/Governance and Executive Committees. Additionally, she is a director on the board of Union Bank of California/Mitsubishi Americas Holding Company, serves as a member of the Executive Compensation, Audit and Finance Committees, and chairs a strategic planning initiative of the board of directors.

                          Previously, Ms. Rambo served as a director of International Rectifier, Gymboree Corporation and BankAmerica Capital. In the non-profit sector, she has served as president of the College of William & Mary Board of Sponsors, president of the Women’s Forum West, vice chairman of the San Francisco Ballet Board of Trustees and chairman of the Operating Committee of the Roundabout Theatre, New York.

                          Her experience on other public company boards provides insight into the financial services and technology sectors, strategic business development, executive compensation, leadership development and corporate governance practices.

                          Ms. Rambo holds an M.B.A. in finance from New York University and a B.A. in International Affairs from the College of William and Mary. She is a sculler and sails in San Francisco and the Caribbean.

                          • Randy Repass

                            Affiliated Director

                            Randy Repass is founder of West Marine, Inc. and an affiliated director. He served as the Company’s chief executive officer, from 1968 to April 1995 and from July 1998 to November 1998 and as president, from 1968 to 1990 and from August 1993 to March 1994. Mr. Repass also served as board chair from the Company’s inception to May 2015. Mr. Repass graduated from Duke University with a BSEE in 1966 and began his career in engineering and marketing with Fairchild Semiconductor. In 1973, he founded Semiconductor Engineering Associates, specializing in programming of computer-controlled testers for complex integrated circuits. Earnings from this business provided the initial financing for West Marine.

                            In 1968, Mr. Repass founded West Coast Ropes, later to be renamed West Marine, a mail order purveyor of quality three-strand rope. The first retail store was opened in Palo Alto, CA in 1975.

                            Mr. Repass has also served as commodore of the Santa Cruz Yacht Club, a director and president of Sail America, the US sailing industry association, and a director of the National Marine Manufacturers Association. Mr. Repass' boating background includes dinghy and club racing, coastal cruising in New England, the Northwest and Mexico, and several ocean races to Mexico and Hawaii. He has cruised extensively with family in the Pacific Northwest aboard a traditional New England lobster yacht and in the South Pacific, Far East and Europe aboard a performance passage-making sailboat. As Co-chair of Action Pajaro Valley, he was active in collaborative planning for the area. For many years he has been and remains active in marine conservation for the benefit of the marine environment and fishers. Mr. Repass currently serves as director for the Golden Gate Salmon Association and Ocean Champions and serves as a member of the Leadership Council for Joint Ocean Commission Initiative.

                              • Dennis Madsen

                                Independent Director

                                Mr. Madsen joined the Board in November 2010 and is Chair of the Compensation and Leadership Development Committee and a member of the Nomination and Governance Committee. Mr. Madsen is the former REI President and CEO and he spent his entire career at Recreational Equipment Inc., the preeminent specialty retailer of outdoor specialty gear and services. He began working for the company as a 17 year old high school student stocking shelves while working his way through college. In March of 2005, after nearly thirty-nine years with the company, including thirteen years as COO and the last five years as CEO, he retired.

                                Mr. Madsen’s post-REI career consists of a mix of community and business board involvements. Upon leaving REI, he and a handful of associates formed the Youth Outdoors Legacy Fund with the purpose of funding volunteers and outdoor programs that focus on getting urban kids involved in outdoor activities and stewardship.

                                In addition to the Youth Outdoors Legacy Fund, Mr. Madsen serves the community as a Trustee of Western Washington University and as a director for Forterra. Past non-profit board involvements include Islandwood, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, Bicycle Alliance of Washington, and the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition. Aside from his philanthropic activities, Mr. Madsen’s current business activities include serving as a Director on the Board of Alaska Airlines and Horizon Airlines.

                                Mr. Madsen holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Seattle Pacific University and pursued a business degree while attending an MBA program at Pacific Lutheran University. He is passionate in pursuit of many outdoor activities. This has led him to cycling adventures in Europe, treks through the Soviet Union and Nepal, river running the Grand Canyon and the Middle Fork of the Salmon, double century bicycle rides, summiting Mt. Rainier, helicopter backcountry skiing in British Columbia, and month-long trips in Desolation Sound, British Columbia on his sailboat Revelation. Mr. Madsen has spent the last 24 years sailing throughout the Pacific Northwest and Canadian waters. Previously spending five years on a live-aboard, he has a keen understanding of boater needs and lifestyle.

                              • Robert Olsen

                                Independent Director

                                Robert Olsen was appointed to West Marine’s Board of Directors in May 2013 and also served as a member of its Audit and Finance Committee as a financial expert. In May 2015, Mr. Olsen was appointed as Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee. Between 2000 and his retirement in January of 2013, Mr. Olsen worked in numerous roles at AutoZone, Inc. Most recently, Mr. Olsen served as Corporate Development Officer of Customer Satisfaction. In this role, he was responsible for the Mexico and ALLDATA businesses and strategic growth initiatives that included AutoZone’s store expansion into Brazil and ALLDATA’s entry into Europe.

                                He previously served as Executive Vice President, Store Operations, Commercial, Mexico and ALLDATA from 2007 to 2009, as Executive Vice President, Supply Chain, IT, Mexico and Store Development from 2005 to 2007, as Senior Vice President, Mexico and Store Development from 2001 to 2005, and as Senior Vice President, Planning and Store Development from 2000 to 2001. Prior to that, Mr. Olsen was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Leslie’s Poolmart from 1993 to 2000. From 1990 to 1993 he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Tuneup Masters. Prior to that, he held various positions at AutoZone, including the role of Senior Vice President, Finance Administration and Chief Financial Officer.

                                Mr. Olsen enjoys pleasure boating and fishing with his family and friends at his home on Pickwick Lake in Tennessee.

                              • Jamie Nordstrom

                                Independent Director

                                Jamie Nordstrom was appointed to West Marine’s Board of Directors in December 2012 and also serves as a member of its Compensation and Leadership Development Committee and its Nomination and Governance Committee.

                                Mr. Nordstrom has been an Executive Vice President of Nordstrom, Inc. since 2005 and is currently President of Stores. Mr. Nordstrom began his career in the stockroom of the Bellevue, Washington Nordstrom store in 1986, and went on to hold a number of store and buying management positions. Prior to being named President of Stores, he spent 10 years as President of Nordstrom Direct, supporting that division in building an industry leading ecommerce and multi-channel business.

                                Together with the company's executive team, Mr. Nordstrom has continued to elevate the customer experience across all channels through improved technology and capabilities, greater speed and convenience, broader selection online and more personalized service.

                                Mr. Nordstrom grew up boating in the San Juan’s and British Columbia with his family, and has continued that tradition with his wife and children aboard their 36 foot sports fisher.

                              • Alice Richter

                                Independent Director

                                Ms. Richter was a certified public accountant with KPMG LLP for 26 years until her retirement in June 2001. She joined KPMG's Minneapolis office in 1975 and was admitted to its partnership in 1987. During her tenure at KPMG, Ms. Richter served as the National Industry Director of KPMG's U.S. Food and Beverage practice and also served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the KPMG Foundation from 1991 to 2001 and worked in the Duesseldorf, Germany office for three years. Based on this vast employment experience in finance and accounting, Ms. Richter was appointed as chair of the Audit and Finance Committee on January 1, 2006 and served in such capacity until May 2015. She continues to serve on West Marine's audit and finance committee as a financial expert and in May 2015, she was appointed as chair of the Nomination and Governance Committee whereby she had previously served as a member.

                                Ms. Richter currently serves on the board of directors of G&K Services, Inc., a publicly held company, where she is chair of the audit committee; and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, a non-profit financial services membership organization where she serves as chair of the audit committee and a member of the strategic marketing and oversight committee. Ms. Richter also served as the chair of the board of the Business Economics Education Foundation (renamed BestPrep); on the board and executive committee of the Boys & Girls Club of Minneapolis; and is a member of the AICPA, Minnesota Society of CPAs and the National Association of Female Executives.

                                Ms. Richter graduated summa cum laude from Moorhead State University, was the first recipient of the School of Business Outstanding Alumni Award, and was initiated as an honorary member of the Golden Key National Honor Society by the University of Minnesota chapter. Ms. Richter is an avid water skier and an enthusiastic angler, particularly for freshwater walleye. She is never far from a boat.

                              • Christiana Shi

                                Independent Director

                                Ms. Shi joined West Marine’s Board of Directors in September 2011 and also serves as a member of the Audit and Finance Committee and as a member of the Compensation and Leadership Development Committee.

                                Ms. Shi is currently the President of Global Direct-to-Consumer for NIKE, Inc. In this role, she leads NIKE’s global brick and mortar and digital commerce businesses around the world.

                                Prior to joining NIKE, Inc. she spent almost 25 years of her career at McKinsey & Company, Inc., a global management consulting firm. From 2000 to 2010, Ms. Shi was director and senior partner and from 1994 to 2000 she was a principle (partner). Prior to 1994, she held numerous positions throughout McKinsey. From 1981 to 1984, Ms. Shi also held numerous positions at Merrill Lynch & Company, Inc.

                                Ms. Shi also currently serves as a board member of the Freeman Spogli Institute for Internal Studies and the Stanford Alumni Association of Oregon. She also serves as a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors, as well as Stanford Women on Boards.

                                Ms. Shi holds a B.A. in international relations and economics from Stanford University, and has her M.B.A. from Harvard University. Ms. Shi is an enthusiastic sailor and boater and a late convert to half-marathons and 10Ks.
